The Lourvre museum was hit by a brazen daytime jewel heist, forcing the Paris institution to close its doors for a second day in a row.

A 38-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man were charged on Saturday in connection with the heist, joining two others.

The French police have arrested five more people in connection with the spectacular jewel theft at the Louvre, including one who is believed to have been among the thieves at the scene, the prosecutor overseeing the investigation said on Thursday.
