Proposals to renovate a historic building in a Sheffield park have been halted over the "prohibitive" cost of restoration.

Gov. Gavin Newsom vetoed a bill that would have pushed California toward more strategic planning to prevent the worst wildfire damage, saying it would cost too much unbudgeted money.
