CINCINNATI — Bengals legendary tight end Bob Trumpy has passed away. He was 80 years old. Trumpy was a legend both on and off-the-field in Cincinnati. The Bengals picked him in the 12th round (301st overall) in the 1968 NFL Draft. He played for Cincinnati for 10 seasons.
Trumpy earned All-AFL honors in his sophomore year, recording 835 yards and nine touchdowns on only 37 receptions. The 1970 AFL-NFL merger didn’t stop Trumpy from averaging 36 catches, 487 yards, and three touchdowns over his next five seasons.

Savannah native, former NFL safety George Atkinson dies at 78
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Former Oakland Raiders safety and Savannah native George Atkinson has died. Atkinson, a Johnson High School alumnus was 78. A cause of death was not reported. Atkinson played 11 NFL seasons, 10 of those with the Oakland Raiders, winning the 1977 Super Bowl.
